GA4 is where all your traffic and behavior data lives. ChatGPT is one of the most widely used AI tools. Connect them through Sequel's MCP server and you can just ask questions about your GA4 data in plain English. No exporting reports, no navigating dashboards.
What You'll Accomplish
Once connected, you can ask ChatGPT:
- "How many sessions did we have last week compared to the week before?"
- "Which pages have the highest bounce rate this month?"
- "What are our top traffic sources by new users today?"
Prerequisites
- A Sequel account: Sign up free at sequel.sh
- A Google Analytics 4 property with at least Viewer access
- A ChatGPT Plus, Team, or Enterprise account: required for custom MCP apps
Step 1: Connect Google Analytics 4 to Sequel
Sign in to sequel.sh and click Data Sources in the left sidebar.

Click New Connection. On the "Choose a connector" page, select Google Analytics 4.

Enter a Connection Name, e.g. My Site Analytics. Then click Connect with Google.

A Google OAuth window will open. Sign in with the Google account that has access to your GA4 property and grant Sequel the requested permissions. You'll be redirected back to Sequel with the connection saved.
Step 2: Add Sequel to ChatGPT
First, enable Developer Mode. Open ChatGPT and go to Settings -> Apps. Click Advanced Settings and toggle Developer Mode on.

Developer Mode lets you add unverified MCP apps. Note that it disables ChatGPT's Memory feature while active.
Now go back to Settings -> Apps and click Create App. Fill in the details:
- Name:
Sequel - Description:
Sequel AI Data Analytics(optional) - MCP Server URL:
https://api.sequel.sh/mcp - Authentication: OAuth
Check "I understand and want to continue", then click Create.

Sequel's authorization page will open in your browser. Review the permissions and click Allow access.

Once authorized, Sequel will appear in your Apps list and you're ready to query.
Step 3: Query Your Google Analytics Data
How many users visited the site last week?
What are the top 10 landing pages by sessions this month?
Show me the traffic breakdown by country for the past 30 days.
What You Can Do Now
- Marketing reporting: ask "Which campaigns drove the most conversions this quarter?" without building a custom report
- Content performance: ask "Which blog posts have the highest engagement rate this month?"
- Executive summaries: ask ChatGPT to write a plain-English summary of this month's traffic trends
- Audience insights: ask "What countries are our users coming from and how do they convert differently?"
- Anomaly detection: ask "Was there anything unusual about traffic in the past 48 hours?"
