How it works

Three steps to get started

Connect Stripe to Sequel

In your Sequel dashboard, go to Connections and add Stripe. Sequel handles authentication and schema discovery automatically.

Add the MCP config

Copy the Sequel MCP configuration into ChatGPT's settings file (shown below). Swap in your API key from Settings → API Keys.

Ask ChatGPT about your data

Restart ChatGPT and start asking questions. "What's our MRR for May, broken down by plan?" — and get a real answer backed by live Stripe data.

Place this in ChatGPT Settings → Connectors and replace sql_your_api_key with a key from Settings → API Keys.

How do I connect Stripe to ChatGPT?

You need two things: (1) connect Stripe to Sequel in your Sequel dashboard under Connections, and (2) add the Sequel MCP config to ChatGPT using the setup shown above. Once both are done, ChatGPT can query your Stripe data directly.

What Stripe data can ChatGPT access?

ChatGPT can access any data available through your Stripe connection in Sequel. Use Sequel's search tool to discover available metrics and dimensions, then execute queries to pull the data you need.

Is my Stripe data sent to ChatGPT's servers?

Query results are returned to ChatGPT as context within your conversation. Only the data you explicitly ask about is retrieved. Sequel never stores your query results permanently — they exist only for the duration of the tool call.

Do I need a Sequel account?

Yes. You need a Sequel account to connect Stripe and generate an API key. Sign up free at sequel.sh — no credit card required. Then create a connection to Stripe and generate an API key from Settings → API Keys.

Can I connect multiple Stripe accounts?

Yes. Sequel supports multiple connections of the same type. If you have multiple Stripe accounts or properties, add each as a separate connection in Sequel. ChatGPT will be able to query all of them.
